Merry Christmas and A Big Thank You!!!

Hi everyone,

Just a quick message to say thank you to everyone who has supported me this year.

2007 has been a good year all in all. With the releases of "Dead Flowers By Midnight" and "Undercover 2". Also the "Matt Tyler Radio" is now on-line and there have been plenty of great gigs and a good amount or airplay.

A big thank you to everyone who has helped me in anyway. Whether that be coming to a gig, voting for me on various websites through-out the year, bought CD's, or even sent messages of support. It's all very much appreciated and really does make a difference.

The future looks bright and busy for 2008 with the "Dead Flowers By Midnight Tour"( April/May/June) and I have also started preliminary work on the follow up album (working title) "Jonah's Revenge" (Out mid/late 2008).

So, let me wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a very prosperous New Year!

Take care,

Matt Tyler.

I Need Your Votes and Plays!!! BRMB Radio!

BRMB Radio runs an unsigned show called "The Upload". To get played on it I need as many votes and as many plays as possible.

It only takes a couple of seconds literally :-)

You need to copy and paste the following link:

www.myuploaded.co.uk/matttyler

And give each of my tracks a couple of plays :-) Then vote 10 out of 10 for my music on the voting thingy.

It might help me get played on BRMB Radio which would be great!

The more votes and plays the better!

Cheers

Tune Into Radio Pulse (13.50 AM) This Tuesday!!!

Hey everyone,

I will be on The Ian Michaels Show on Radio Pulse Tuesday night for an interview and to play an acoustic session.

I will be talking about "Dead Flowers By Midnight", up and coming gigs and future plans/projects in the works amongst other things.

Tune in to 1350 AM "Radio Pulse" from 19.00 - 21.00.

I am also in the process of setting up my very own internet radio station. With Internet radios on the rise and the predicted big sales this Christmas this should be a really useful vehicle for my music and getting it out to new listeners. It also means anytime you want to take in a few Matt Tyler tunes you can tune in any time you want :-) More news on that very soon.

Brumcast Play and More Radio Plays!

Podcast plays and airplays have suddenly become more frequent recently which is good news. I have just found out that Ben "The B" Turner on BBC Radio WM has been playing some tracks off "Dead Flowers By Midnight" and also some material from "Brilliant Disguise" whilst I was away on holiday.

This week however my good friend Little Chris has featured "Conspiracy Theory" on his legendary podcast "Brumcast", which is always a great show of unsigned talent.

Check it out here: http://ipodnetworks.com/caster/363/audio.php

Hopefully a sign of things to come :-)

Over 5000 hits and New Pictures!!!

A big thank you to anyone who came to see me play at "Artsfest" this weekend just gone. I'm sure you will all agree it is a great celebration of Birmingham's culture, music and arts. There are rumours flying around that it was the last one! Lets hope that the council sorts out their differences on this matter and we see a return of "Artsfest" next year!

I have a few pictures from "Artsfest" and some from the evening gig at The Queens so I will put them up in the gallery section soon.

Finally, we have surpassed the 5000 visits milestone of this website which isn't bad going for a site that's not 2 and half years old yet. Next target will be the big 5 figure mark!

Hope you like the pictures, speak soon.

"Artsfest", "What's On" and A New Podcast Play!!!

By now most brummies will know that Birmingham's biggest festival of art and music, "Artsfest" is just around the corner (14th-16th Sept). That's next weekend. Its a special year because its the 10th anniversary. I am lucky enough to be performing twice on Saturday 15th. It would be great if some of you can make it down :-) It will be :

Saturday 15th September 2007 Artsfest, The Arts Cafe, Birmingham. (3.00-3.30) (Free Entry).

Saturday 15th September 2007 Artsfest, The Prince Of Wales, Birmingham. (5.30-6.00) (Free Entry).

To celebrate and promote this years festival Brumcast, Birmingham's biggest independent podcast has chosen to feature another track off DFBM "Heal". You can download that here : http://ipodnetworks.com/caster/363/audio.php

Additionally, "Dead Flowers By Midnight" was also featured on Birmingham's "What's On" magazine!

Hopefully see you Saturday :-)

General Update!!!

Didn't realise it had been so long since my last post!! I have just come back from my summer hols which was a refreshing break. I hope you all had a great summer too (even if summer didn't quite make it to the UK!!!)

Thought id better put something up here to let everybody know what's going on at the moment :-)

"Dead Flowers" is selling well and is on quite a few digital music sites with plenty to follow. So I will be putting the links up for that soon. Be sure to check it out if you would like to buy the album online or just preview it.

The DVD which some people have asked about from the Springsteen Sessions is on its way. Just the final adjustments being made to that and then I will be selling that at the gigs for a small fee and of course in the shop here.

Other than that there are several new projects on the horizon including another Charity CD (which I will be co-arranging/organising) and tentative steps are being made with the follow up album to "Dead Flowers By Midnight". Most of the tracks I have already written and I should start demo-ing in the studio by Christmas with a release around the same time as this year (late July). There is no other definite info other than that but I will as ever keep you posted as it develops.

Those wondering where "The Tyler Sessions" have gone to on Myspace I am pondering with the idea of bringing it back probably around mid October. :-)

Well, that's it for now. Hopefully I should have some more news for you when I get back into the swing of things.

Till then, take care,

Matt Tyler.

Second Review Of Dead Flowers Now In!

The second review of Dead Flowers By Midnight is now in. See below:

"Following on from his Springsteen's cover album, MATT TYLER returns with his first solo album of all original material, "Dead Flowers By Midnight" (Dannyboy Records). Written over the past two years, it's somewhat diverse in its stylings, ranging between the Dylan/Petty like stadium power ballad "Conspiracy Theory" to the funkyish beats of folk-swaggering guitar rocker "Heal", the falsetto tones of "Julia" and the big ballad "Deepest Love".

Tyler's a solid writer with a decent voice.....a talent well worth keeping close eye on."

Mike Davies "The Brum Beat". (28/07/07).

Tyler Added To Artsfest Bill!

Artsfest is one of Birmingham's biggest music and arts festivals in the calendar and so I am really pleased to be involved again this year.

I have been given two spots on the festival line up. Both on the 15th September :

3.00 - 3.30 The Arts Cafe (Next to the Bull Ring)

5.30 - 6.00 The Prince Of Wales (Next to Birmingham Rep Theatre and Symphony Hall)

Be great if some of you can make it down to one or both of the gigs. It will prove to be a bit of a marathon day of gigs for me as I am also at "The Queens" on the evening too!

The First Review is in!!! Sunday Mercury!+ Express and Star!

Hi,

Its been nearly a week since the release now and things have gone very smoothly. In last weeks "Sunday Mercury" Newspaper I was fortunate to receive a very kind review. My first in fact as far as I am aware. Have copied it out for you bellow if you fancy a ganders.

"Brummie singer/songwriter Matt Tyler is the epitome of the local hero, gigging like there is no tomorrow and now releasing his fourth CD for the faithful.
A self admitted Springsteen fan - one of his previous outings was a set of covers - its no surprise that The Boss haunts tracks such as "Conspiracy Theory" and "Heal".
But there is more to Tyler than that. "Julia", a song which recalls Sutherland Brothers standard "Arms Of Mary", is a gentle delight, and there's even a hint of late-period Lennon to be heard in "Deepest Love". Catch him on July 12th at Birmingham's Custard Factory"

Jack Daniels of "The Sunday Mercury" 08/07/07

The Express and Star also did a nice feature on me on their new local talent website section. Click below to check it out:

That's it for now, take care,

Tyler Added To Oxjam, Victory in "Top Of The Bats" and More Podcast Plays!!!

I am very pleased to announce that I have signed up to play at this years "Oxjam On The Hill".

After last years disappointment of "Buskathon" being cancelled (thanks to the nit picky, pen pushers from the council) I was eager to accept the invitation to play once again. It will be held at Coleshill Town Hall on Sunday 28th October. More news to follow nearer the date.

On a side note a big thank you to everyone who voted for me on Monochrome Museum last week. We romped home to take this weeks prestigious title of "Top Of The Bats"!!! As a result "Distant Goodbye" is being played on this weeks show along with a special mention so check it out :-)

The "Next Big Thing" podcast also continue to plug tracks from "Dead Flowers By Midnight", this week featuring "Julia" and "Conspiracy Theory", also a short interview about the writing of that particular track.

Well that's about it for now. Only two days till the album is released!! So plenty of work to do!

"Distant Goodbye" Featured on Monochrome Museum!!!  I NEED YOUR VOTE!!!

Hi everyone,

This week (from today) the guys from The Monochrome Museum Podcast have very kindly helped me out by playing one of my new tracks "Distant Goodbye" on their new show.

That is great news in itself as it has over 15,000 regular listeners!!! However, all I ask is that you download the podcast and vote for my track to be "Top Of The Bats"- A sort of top of the charts scheme. It only takes about 10 seconds.

If I do manage to get the most votes of all the tracks on this show then I get it played on next weeks show too :-)   Which would be fantastic promotion for the release of "Dead Flowers By Midnight" 07/07/07.

Just click on the link below

And vote on the guest book for top of the bats for MATT TYLER'S "DISTANT GOODBYE".

Simple as that :-) If you do get chance please download the show too, It only takes about half a minute and its a cracking listen. And its free!!!

Thanks for your time again everyone. Really appreciate your help :-) Lets get that top of the charts!!!!!!!

Track listing Released For "Dead Flowers By Midnight"!

Whilst behind the scenes the last finishing touches are being put to the new CD I thought I would take some time out to let you know what you have in store and release the order of songs that will be on the final edit.

They are as follows :

1. Conspiracy Theory

2. Hollow (Midnight Mix)

3. Heal

4. Break Away (Midnight Mix)

5. Twisted

6. Pictures (Midnight Mix)

7. Julia

8. Deepest Love

9. Scarred Stranger

10. Distant Goodbye.

So, there you have it. Some you will know, other probably not. Some I have played at gigs for a while, some not so much or not at all. There is plenty of variety on the album and a little something for everyone so I am really looking forward to hearing what you think of it. The versions of "Hollow", "Break Away" and "Pictures" on this album are also completely different to the "Undercover" album tracks. They were just acoustic previews. These are full electric productions. The Midnight Mix's.

Anyway, I hope to share more news on "Dead Flowers" with you soon. Keep checking back :-)

Bye bye for now.

Matt Tyler News Update!

Hey folks,

First off I'm sorry it has been so long since the last update! Its been a busy couple of months for different reasons so prepare yourself for a bit of an essay here :-)

I would like to thank everybody who came to the Library Theatre gig on the 22nd April. You all made it a great night and for those new comers I am delighted to have made some new friends too.

Some of you may have noticed various Video cameras being set up here and there. There was a valid reason for this. A Live DVD is being put together as the final piece of the "Brilliant Disguise" era. It will feature tracks from "Brilliant Disguise" as well as other covers and of course a selection of my original material. The footage was taken at the Library Theatre gig and at The Album Launch at The Bulls Head Back in January. So if you were there and want to immortalise the event I will bring more news on that when I have it.

The gig guide has not been as busy as of late. Mainly because I have taken the month of May off to put the finishing touches to the New album! We also now have a working title for it too. "Dead Flowers By Midnight". We are still very much on course for the summer/autumn release. More news on this is imminent.

Last of all a big thumbs up to everybody on myspace that has made "The Tyler Sessions" so successful. We have had nearly 500 views in the first 4 months of the project (Over 7 instalments).  I have a had a great response from them and whilst I have taken a few weeks off from them whilst I finish "Dead Flowers" I will be resuming them soon. Bigger and better!

So, that's the full round up. Summer is always a busy time for me so expect more news to follow as soon as I have it :-)

Take care and thanks,

Matt Tyler.

The Tyler Sessions 2007!!!

Hey guys and gals,

With normality resumed after the hectic New Year and Christmas period I am now busy recording my new album (which is yet to be titled) and should be out sometime in the latter part of this year. (fingers crossed).

Recording is going well but as always it is a slow and painful process.

It was been noted by myself (and sum others) that I have been lazy recently in putting up new videos on myspace. So as we are all starting afresh and everything with the turn of the new year my new years resolution is to put a new video up on myspace every fortnight for the whole of 2007!!!

This weeks video is the much requested "Break Away" and is online now. This is one of the tracks previewed on the "Undercover" album and a new full version of the song is well underway for the new album.

Your views and your precious time in watching them would be much appreciated and if you have a couple of extra moments spare to put your comments down and rate the video that would be fab!

If you like my music please spread the word to fellow myspace visitors and friends.

This should be a great way to share my music with you guys more often and also get your feedback on what you like and don't like so much. And if I can gain a few friends and fans along the way then that would be a bonus :-)

So, what you waiting for ? Go check out "Break Away" The first instalment of the Tyler Sessions! Keep your eyes open on the bulletins for the next videos. www.myspace.com/matttylermusic (click on videos under my picture).

Cheers,

Matt Tyler.

Brilliant Disguise Review!

Well 2007 is here. Doesn't a year fly by! I hope you all had a great new year and didn't get up to too much mischief!

Its been a while since my last message on here so apologies for that, busy time of year and all that. However with the new year comes good news. I have had my first review of Brilliant Disguise come through from Mike Davies of "Birmingham 101.com". Here are some of the quotes.

"Such things (Tribute albums) should generally be approached with caution, several Springsteen cover collections having been known to send fans screaming in pain and outrage. But Tyler can count himself among the ranks of those who have done justice by the Boss!"

"Adopting a Nebraska style stripped down approach to up-tempo numbers such as Dancing In The Dark, Glory Days and Thunder Road, his throaty delivery serving well on a striking acapella reading of The River that underscores its folk roots."

"Plaudits too for not just sticking to the usual suspects, but including his interpretations of lesser sung tracks Devils and Dust, Empty Sky and Sad Eyes."

"There’s no faulting Tyler’s performance, and his promise"

From Brilliant Disguise Review by Mike Davies of "Birmingham 101.com" January '07.
