Brilliant Disguise Released 30th October 2006

"Such things (Tribute albums) should generally be approached with caution, several Springsteen cover collections having been known to send fans screaming in pain and outrage. But Tyler can count himself among the ranks of those who have done justice by the Boss!"

"Adopting a Nebraska style stripped down approach to up-tempo numbers such as Dancing In The Dark, Glory Days and Thunder Road, his throaty delivery serving well on a striking acapella reading of The River that underscores its folk roots."

"Plaudits too for not just sticking to the usual suspects, but including his interpretations of lesser sung tracks Devils and Dust, Empty Sky and Sad Eyes."

"There’s no faulting Tyler’s performance, and his promise"

So, Why a tribute album? Why Springsteen?

The answer is quite simple and honest. As far as influences and idols go Bruce is up there with the greatest. A career with the longevity, diversity and variety to rival anyone.

To me Springsteen’s music is about dreams. Dreams he brings to life in his music, whether in his lyrics, songs or in his passion fuelled, legendary live performances over the years.

At first I was apprehensive about doing a tribute album when the idea came about. The creative artist in me told me that it was a step backwards, a cheap trick. I’m glad I slept on it.

Indeed since the start of this project Springsteen himself has released a tribute album of his own for one of his idols, the great Pete Seeger. So if it’s good enough for Bruce…..

I have gained much pleasure from recording this project and I am delighted to share it with you.

I have spent many a happy hour sifting through Bruce’s extensive back catalogue with the tough job of selecting tracks I thought I could do justice to, or most importantly delve into and do something different with. This was my aim with this group of songs. I tried to bring something different to them, my take, my tribute.

I have attempted to choose a wide range of tracks from the many phases of his career. Some well known hits, others relatively unknown or rarely played. Collectively however they sum up everything I love about Bruce Springsteen.

So, this one’s for you Boss!
