out and it really is a lovely venue to play music! Its been a big dream of mine
to play there since I was a little boy.
It will be great to finally realise that dream
and play on the same stage that has graced the likes of The Rolling Stones,
Elton John, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Buddy Holly and Bob Dylan to
name but a few.
I have been playing on tour with
"Froggy" for a good few months now and with him being a Birmingham lad
too, it will be a nice home-coming gig for us both and should be pretty special.
Certainly the highlight and pinnacle of the tour for us!

Charity Gig 19th June
(Supporting Steve Gibbons) KIDZLIKEDANNY!!!
Hi everyone,
A very important announcement this week.
I am playing a very special gig next Friday 19th June. It is the return of the
charity fundraiser Kidzlikedanny!
The charity 'Kidzlikedanny' was formed in January 1997. It was started by Lin
and Dave Lloyd, parents of Daniel Lloyd with the help of brothers Matt Tyler
(Matthew Lloyd) and Jacob Lloyd. A total of over £18,500.00 has been raised by
the Kidzlikedanny charity so far. The money is used to purchase specialised
equipment or items not covered in the school or organisations normal budget.
Sometimes the money is used to fund trips out, for families with autistic
children. The cost of these days out can be quite expensive, as much manpower is
very often needed.
Next Friday KIDZLIKEDANNY returns as a one off special "Songwriter's
Night". Featuring myself (Matt Tyler), Birmingham music legend Steve
Gibbons, David Garside and Jacob Lloyd.
This time raising money for "K Club". The Kaleidoscope Club was formed
in 1998 to support youngsters with special needs. This includes the running of
play schemes and taking children and young adults with complex special needs on
holidays and trips where their parents are either not around or cannot provide
that for them.
Its at Holy Name Parish Centre, Birmingham Road, Great Barr, Birmingham. B43
6LN.
Doors open at 7.45. Starts at 8.00. Finish's at 11.15.
And YES there is a bar!!! ;-)
Admission is just £5 and it is sure to be a great night as they always are!
For tickets email kidzlikedanny@blueyonder.c
o.uk or phone 0121 357 4928.
GET IN QUICK AS THEY ARE RAPIDLY SELLING OUT!!!
See you there!
Cheers,
Matt Tyler.

Fuse Festival CD
"Don't Fence Me In" Released Today!! Featuring Matt Tyler!!!
Hi all,
Some of you will remember last year I was
lucky enough to play The Fuse Festival. Unfortunately this year the Festival has
been rocked by the news that the local police/council have insisting that a
special security fence must be erected around the site. This costs a whopping
£3,500.
The Fuse Festival (ran by Lichfield Arts) is a
free event and makes no profit what so ever. It therefore runs on voluntary
basis. The CD "Don't Fence Me In" features acts that have played on
the Fuse Festival over the years and all sales of the CD go towards paying for
the fence and ensuring the future of Fuse Festival is secure and remains free
for all to enjoy! :-)

I have donated "Rustic Hero" from
"Jonah's Revenge" to the compilation. The CD is for sale at http://www.fuse-acoustic.co.uk At
only £5 a copy it is a great purchase with plenty of top class tracks on there
from up and coming local acts.
Please pass on the word and do your best top
support the "Don't Fence Me In" Project.
Cheers,
Matt Tyler.

Supertramp)!!!
Its been a while since my last post but I come
bearing good news today :-)
Hare and Hounds is a venue I have yet to play
in my career to date but one I was always very keen on playing. Having staged
UB40's very first gig in 1979 and hosting up and coming bands such as The Twang
and The Editors "Hare and Hounds" is considered by many as on of the
top Birmingham venues.
On Sunday 31st May I am delighted to announce
that I will finally be playing in the newly refurbished Music Room! Its only £2
entry so please do try and make it down if you can!
On a final note I have now been given
confirmation that I will be appearing on The Acoustic Festival Of Britain on The
Bank Holiday Monday (25th May) 1.30-2.00 on The Dome Stage. It should a be a
terrific day as I play just before the legendary Roger Hodgson (Supertramp) gets
on stage for his set!
Hopefully see you there!

Another "Jonah's
Revenge" Review!!!
Hi everyone,
This week "Jonah's Revenge" received its third review, and a very kind one it was too :-)
Below is much respected, local music mogul Toxic Pete's words about the album:
Jonah's Revenge' is the latest album from prolific Birmingham acoustic folk rocker Matt Tyler; it's a powerful and at times intense work that showcases Tyler's forceful and honest, up-front approach.
Tyler's songs are massively robust and extremely mature and act as brilliant starting blocks from which Tyler positively launches himself into the task in hand.
Multi-instrumentalist Tyler plays all the instruments on this impressive work and thereby maintains total control of the end product such that 'Jonah's Revenge' is very much a work about the man and his music; and from 'Jonah's Revenge' I get the distinct feeling that Tyler's perhaps someone that can hold his own in any situation, wouldn't flinch at a challenge and stands proudly by anything he says or does!
Matt Tyler has a touch of real hard-core about him; his enthusiasm is near tangible and he seems to channel all his energy into the delivery of his wonderfully working-class Springsteen-esque songs to make them totally believable and at times personal.
Tyler doesn't once over-embellish his songs, preferring to always err on the side of reproducible honesty. It's a clever move and a very genuine approach that should help Tyler reach out to, and communicate with, his audiences.
The Matt Tyler way is definitely all about confidence and belief; Tyler has no problem with expressing himself through his music, he certainly isn't afraid of the microphone and doesn't shy away from making his point. He communicates extremely well and lets his words range-out with total freedom as he provides relatively stripped-back instrumental support that doesn't once get in the way.
'Jonah's Revenge' by Matt Tyler is an excellent album that should do well for Matt Tyler. Some might just find Tyler's vocal style a little bit too up-front but hey, that's what the guy is all about, Tyler
ain't no shrinking violet, he's a man with things to say and wants to share his words with anyone who'll listen - cool album; great lyrics and musically very tasteful, Matt Tyler delivers a gripping work with massive confidence and great professionalism.

New "Jonah
Revenge" Review In!!!
Hey,
Some more fantastic news this week. "Jonah's
Revenge" has picked up another very positive review. This time from Birmingham music
guru Mike Davies ("The Brum Beat"). He is a man with his finger very
much on the pulse of Midlands music and a good review from him is always hard
earned and incredibly appreciated indeed :-)
Here is what he had to say:
"Several albums down the line, MATT TYLER’s
latest, Jonah’s Revenge (Dannyboy) is probably his best yet. Still firmly
acoustic based and harking to Americana and folk rock of the Dylan/Springsteen
persuasion, it kicks off with the sterling and stadium pumped Rustic Hero,
Tyler’s trebly twang voice growly and soaring over the verses. It’s a
similar approach on In 2 Deep and Anastasia, two more solid and melodically
soaring examples of his rough blue collar Americana folk. Icarus, with its
harmonica intro and strummed guitar, is another stand out, perhaps suggesting
echoes of Mike Peters in the heartfelt delivery and tumbling chorus
melody."
"Certainly another credible step in an
increasingly impressive career."
